Senior Devs Should Do a Coding Week Without AI

I have been programming since I was 12 and went from developer to CTO. After my exit, I went back to join the indiehacker movement and coded products from scratch again. What a fun time it was.

Then AI came out. In the age of Fable, Sol, and K3, there is no point in writing code yourself.

Many retired founders and programmers like Sergey Brin and Peter Steinberger returned to tech for fun. AI made it possible to build things you never had time for.

But soon we all realized that writing code is pointless. We transformed into reviewers and managers of AI agents.

This is not the role we fell in love with.

Coding now is like painting. When photography came, painting stopped being necessary, and people kept painting anyway. Not because it’s efficient, but because it brings joy.

Let’s take a week off AI and bring back the joy of writing code manually.
