Four Takeaways From DHH's Lex Fridman Podcast

The founder of Ruby on Rails and Basecamp built a new Linux distribution called Omarchy himself.

Omarchy boots in less than 60 seconds

He built his dream Linux distro on top of Arch and customized the operating system completely in 3000 hours using Claude Fable, Opus, Codex and Kimi. I remember a few years ago that he got pissed off with the limitations of Mac and Windows. So it seems we are at a state of AI agents now where you can build and customize your own OS. Mind-blowing times.

I tried Omarchy on my M4 Max in a VM.

Insanely quick boot. So far I love that you just type claude and it installs the CLI instantly, no need to go to any site.

For me the safety, convenience and seamless connection of the Apple devices are essential, so I use it as my daily but will add Omarchy to my stack.

But if this is growing fast, we might also see an Omarchy mobile version soon that he talked about.

A new Intel chip that takes on Apple silicon

I also didn't know that there is a new Intel chip that is getting closer to the Apple silicon chips. Apparently he recommends the Dell XPS laptop with this new chip. I will keep an eye on this and maybe grab one of them to run pure Omarchy.

Now is the time for Linux and Android

I am running multiple agents on multiple Macs and I struggle with annoying popups and where I need to click sometimes to continue the process. Linux is built from the ground up to do everything using the terminal. This is what AIs use and it is the most reliable and fastest interface for them. Android is a Linux based mobile OS and I think the mobile AI moment will follow soon.

I can see a future where we have more AI first devices like Linux Macs, IoT devices like the ESP32 and Android forks for mobile.

English is the new programming language

For me programming was always a tool to instruct the computer to do something for me. Now the programming language to build stuff is English. Everything DHH and I do today is writing using English typed sentences or voice inputs.

I have accelerated my time reading books and finished a writing course recently too.

That's also why I let my Hermes send the latest podcast to my Kindle as an EPUB file.

Much more enjoyable reading it than sitting in front of a screen for 5h.
