Four Reasons I Switched From OpenClaw to Hermes

The rise and fall of OpenClaw: 4 reasons it went under.

I used OpenClaw 24/7 when it came out and switched my life to it.

Here are the reasons why most of us switched to Hermes:

1. Unreliable and manual fixing needed

Whenever I wanted to update it or add a new model it went down. At random times the gateway just stopped. I had to log in remotely to my Mac and fix it. I had to invest a lot of time to fix it and I lost trust in it.

2. No memory

To make sure it remembered learnings over time I had to insist on building skills manually, tell it what to remember and copy them to other workspaces and projects.

3. Messy backup

Making a full backup meant splitting it into GitHub backups for the workspace files and backing up secrets separately too.

4. Zero switching costs

Switching to another agent like Hermes was done in a few minutes. Hermes took over my auths and messaging agents, and all files remained on the Mac anyway. I just told Hermes to grab all schedules and history from OpenClaw to continue.
